A Celebration of Tabletop Design

Tabletop Design Event window

On a balmy early April evening, we welcomed Spring and the design community to our Park Avenue showroom for a special celebration of Tabletop Design. This joyous event featured the imaginative work of designers and tastemakers Cathy Kincaid, Darren Henault, Alex Papachristidis, Christopher Sale & Kyle O’Donnell, Emily Evans Eerdmans, and Parker Bowie Larson.

E. Braun collaborated with this group of talented designers to create truly spectacular window displays and delightful tablescapes. Items from our extensive product line were selected by the designers to complement their choice of tableware and accessories. In some instances, the designers took advantage of our ability to create truly custom designs and pieces that uniquely suited their creative vision for this wonderful event.

For her window, designer Cathy Kincaid was inspired by a Swedish Rococo table that she had recently sourced for a client’s Connecticut home. Surrounded by Gustavian chairs graced by our WHIPSTICH throw, the table is set with our FRUCTUS placemats and napkins in an extraordinary shade of Pale Blue.

Of the inspiration for Darren Henault’s window, he said “Imagine a tent set up on a bucolic piece of property on the grounds of Versailles. A whimsical lunch for Louis XIV and his latest paramour. Glamorous, but whimsical”. The APRILE CERTALDO embroidered linen tent and table cloth were made from a custom fabric specially created by E. Braun for the event. The enchanting round placemats and napkins are PARADISE GARDEN by Noel.

Parker Bowie Larson said “Spring is always the perfect time to look to the outdoors for inspiration for your table. Starting with E. Braun & Co.’s beautiful embroidered LEAVES placemats, I wanted to create a green base for my table scheme similar to what we see in nature. From there, I layered in floral porcelain and glassware mixed with wicker accents evoking the most exquisite garden!”. For ‘The Rose Garden’ table, Parker also chose E. Braun’s TUSCAN linen table round and PAPILLON napkins.

For ‘Bunny’s Favorite’ by Everyday Elegance & Alex Papachristidis, E. Braun created a new tablecloth and custom sized napkins in a CANE pattern that was inspired by the intricate latticework of caned furniture. As Alex noted, “Our Springtime table has lots of influences from the American horticulturist, gardener, and art collector Bunny Mellon. The colors, use of textures, and materials are a reflection of her impeccable taste & style”.

Of her ‘Under the Sea’ table, Emily Evans Eerdmans said, “E. Braun’s vibrant and colorful CREATURES OF THE SEA linens inspired our tablescape evoking the rich aquatic life of the ocean. While our guests prepare to dine on oysters and champagne, iron seaweed surrounded by exotic shells and sterling silver fish transport them to under the sea.”

Christopher Sale and Kyle O’Donnell of Gramercy Design said “Heralding the first signs of spring in a woodland garden, the table is a verdant display of ferns, mosses, and nesting robins. Robin’s egg blue accents marry heirloom glasses and linen napkins inspired by vintage motifs. The blend of Art Deco, architectural-inspired motifs and natural/rustic elements creates the feeling of a setting collected over time that is at once refined, yet welcoming and approachable.” The Tuscan linen VERBENA tablecloth is from E. Braun as well as the Monogrammed Napkins with a fern motif in Blue Tuscan linen.

E. Braun worked in collaboration with James Robinson Inc. to create our ‘Art Deco Birds’ table. As Spring begins, we are inspired by the lovely songbirds that herald its arrival. Songbirds were a quintessential motif of the Art Deco era; a movement known for its all-encompassing pursuit of beauty and richly embellished designs. Our ART DECO BIRDS custom tablecloth and napkins feature a mix of painted and embroidered elements in rich lush blues and glittering gold on fine white linen. This captivating flight of fancy is complemented by exquisite 18th century George III porcelain plates marked Flight and with Crescent by Worcester, England, Lamerie reproduction sterling silver flatware, Georgian Salt and Pepper shakers, and English circa 1820 glassware. The dazzling cobalt blue Art Deco vase is by Val St. Lambert, Belgium, circa 1930. All from James Robinson Inc.

We hope that this inspires you to set a creative table and would like to thank all the designers and the companies from which the beautiful tableware was sourced especially Scully and Scully and James Robinson Inc. For a complete list of sources, please contact us directly.
